"...Sinister Overtones, But It's Also Beautiful."

The BLC somehow managed to get airplay on Route 78 West this last Sunday. Uncle Jeff's show usually makes my morning mood instead of going to church, and is probably my favorite radio show. Check out the play list and podcast here.

Awesome.

I'll actually have to pick this one up. From here:

Ay, Caramba! Marge Simpson Gets Nude for Playboy

Who knew Marge Simpson was such a sex kitten?

Sources confirm that the ambiguously aged, iconic cartoon TV mama will appear—naked!—on the November cover of Playboy magazine...

Hugh Hefner teased a while back on Twitter about a possible Marge-Playboy collaboration. We now can tell you that the Simpson matriarch will be featured in a three-page pictorial complete with an interview and a data sheet to mark The Simpsons' 20th anniversary.

But if naked blue-haired cartoons aren't your forté, don't worry. Marge will not—we repeat, will not—be replacing the usual real-life human Playmate in the issue.

We haven't seen the Marge shots yet, so we cannot tell you if the rug matches the drapes.

D'oh!

To answer E!'s question: was there ever a doubt?!? Marge rocks.

A Windy Day

in The City of Central (that's what the letterhead sez). Somehow, the leaves were mostly still on the trees, and really popping. My crummy phone cam photos don't even do the aspens above town justice. Y'all on the local wide webs missed out on some pretty trees today. Like Glenn Danzig said, "Anyone who isn't here is an asshole." Something like that, at least. I'm glad that I got to drive up the hill today. I totally trespassed to see WTF that plaque is--it's totally the site of the first masonic joint in Colorado, but you'd never know from my photo:

Note the mirror:

Again, with the mirror:

Gambling town condos means a lot of garbage-density, but horrifically steep concrete "streets"--this one has a "winter use forbidden" sign. I need to take that photo one of these days.

Some really really weird weird vocals happened on this song. Ross wasn't doing one of his characters, but the final verse is REALLY strange sounding--that's what happens when you record in one take as a whole band (let it bleed). It's an incredible demo, and we'll never re-create it, and y'all'll [that's my brilliant contraction of y'all (you all) and will, BTW] probably never know how strange it sounds, because we can't re-create it (it's an example of studio strangeness).

R.I.P.

Long, long, past due. Mauricio Saravia did a lot of paintings that I love. Sad to me that he's gone...even more sad is that it took me two months to notice.

I suck. You are missed, man; truly a beautiful soul. Thank you for populating my computer's desktop with beauty.

You Know, Earth Is A Pretty Groovy Place To Live

Even with all of the crap that I got to deal with today (some sort of engine melt-down, etc.), this really is a pretty little planet that we have here. My stuff is way better than those gold records (WTF?!?) on V-ger. Indeed, I have lots and lots of photos of stuff that caught my eye. Here are a few from the last couple of days:

Four Rainbows At Once!!!!

It was totally surreal. I had to be shifting and stuff, so I only got a picture of one:

Rainbows don't ever photograph well. The shadow of the mountain that I was on makes the whole photo look weird.

I am way exhausteed. Out.

Alternate Delivery System

This is what I wanted to play this weekend, but, alas, my most recently stolen music hasn't made it mobile just yet. Sexy slides, 'ah-oh-ah' backing vocals, dulcimer, minimal rhythm section, and some evil, dry female vocals. Dynamics is indeed what it's about.

I wish that my band could hold back more. I wish that there were backing vocals sometimes. We got it two practices ago, but only after a "talking to" courtesy of the man. Some players aren't doin' it quite left. I know that I'm holdin' back as much as I can, still. It sounds so much better to me with the overly-dramatic dynamics. I don't dare voice my opinions at rehearsals, though, I'm only the "player of fundamentals," and a certain guitarist thinks that I'm the worst. Bass guitars are incredibly dynamic instruments, so I try to incorporate that idea into my playing. I feel like a real piece of shit when we get the "too loud" taking to speech. I'm trying, really. I've manipulated my amp's settings to hold back..I hope that I'll stay out of dude's "hate zone." I can deal with subliminal bass playing...I was in a metal band at one time.

Back to the intention of this post....

I'll totally have to hit a "record store" on Tuesday. The New Angels of Light album is much more appealing to me than the last one. Usually, I wind up with signed copies because the music stores in Denber suck.
