The Mighty Back-Catalog o' Tunes
I've been working through some old music to re-activate neurons that I might need someday in the future, and a couple of 'em just plain stupefy me.
It couldn't have been that complicated, since I wrote the damn bass line, but this one is really tearin' me up:

Red Cloud - Love, It's Not Working (Live 3/5/2004)Seriously, though, sometimes it feels like I'm learning someone else's stuff. That was one hell of a band, back in the day, even if it feels like I'm talkin' bout someone else, now.

"Based on a true story" - that fuckin' kills me, man.
Red Cloud WAS a great band, JZ. Especially when you were in it. Those shows were emotionally powerful every single goddamned time. It's why I went to see you guys so often. They were still great with Neil but it was a different vibe. It wasn't the saddest music ever written anymore.
I would feel like an asshole for comparing the two incarnations. But there were times in that first incarnation of the Cloud where I was nearly brought to tears by those songs. And bands generally don't affect me that way. But you've heard this stuff from me before.

The good news is that I figured out that goofy-ass bass line yesterday. The thinking behind it is that it's played on the "dots"....and there's no half-steps. I don't know how/why I did that, but it works in a strange sort of way.
