unstable as i am...

tomorrow (actually more like tonight...eh, early tomorrow), i get to drive to grand junction in a mighty ford taurus. it seems nicer than the mighty sable that i cruised in oregon. i think that it's about the same, just slower--altitude seems to make a difference.

anyhow, they trust me with bottles of hydrogen in the trunk (too bad it ain't a pinto), which is probably not the best place for them. my equipment for this trek is as follows:
  • two bottles of hydrogen;
  • one bottle of methane;
  • two packs of smokes;
  • my boots;
  • one photovac microFID;
  • and tapes.

the car apparently is too lame to have a disc player--so i've gone through the cassette archive to find an eclectic mix of tapes as follows:
  • jimi hendrix - electric ladyland;
  • talking heads - more songs about buildings and food;
  • too short - life is...too short;
  • man or astroman - destroy all astromen;
  • shellac - shellac at action park;
  • gruesome twosome - candy from strangers;
  • tear garden - last man to fly;
  • skinny puppy - bites;
  • music from the original motion picture soundtrack "xanadu" featuring olivia newton john/electric light orchestra.
i think that these tunes might at least keep me amused for my driving. the lame part is that i only have about twenty minutes of actual work on-site. really, though, fifteen minutes is calibrating the equipment. oh well, at least i'm not in the office. it seems like mostly they send me out for these sorts of deals. those site visits in oregon totaled 1,500 miles of driving in two days and a total of maybe three hours of actual so-called work (mostly just taking pictures and interviewing maintenance of way dudes).

i love my job.
